On may 5 2025 FaZe Esports and the captain of their Counter Strike: 2 team, Finn "Karrigan" Andersen, announced that they were making a major roster move. In what Finn titled the "hardest benching decision of his career" they moved long time teammate and CS2 Pro, Helvjis "broky" Saukants, to the bench and signed the famed GOAT of Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Oleksander "s1imple" Kostyljev in his spot. This move might have come as a shock to many people, especially since s1mple has historically struggled with the switch from CS:GO to CS2, garnering some heavy criticism after making an appearance on team Falcons from 09/27-11/21 2024. In this time Falcons competed in 4 tournaments, never placing higher than 8th and in some instances as low as 16th. Karrigan also titled this possibly strategic move as a "Hail Mary for the Austin Major" making an attempt at bringing FaZe their second Major win in team history, and their first Major victory since the launch of CS2 While currently everything is speculation, s1mple is looking to make waves in this make or break roster change, as if he fails to succeed here it could quite possibly be the end of his career. Tune in on may 19th where this new FaZe roster takes on Team Liquid as the starting match for the 2025 IEM Dallas Tournament.
